New Single: Asphalt Lake

I am proud to present «Asphalt Lake» the first single from our upcoming album «Snow catches on her eyelashes» featuring Jan Bang and myself. Album release will be the 13th of February

New Record: Lost River

Lost River is an evocative post-ambient, richly textured sonic event, and one of the outstanding beyond-category recordings of recent ECM history. Drummer Michele Rabbia and guitarist Eivind Aarset had played many duo concerts, and Rabbia had also worked with trombonist Gianluca Petrella in other contexts, but this recording marks a premiere for the trio. Spontaneously improvised for the most part, and with mysterious detail flowering inside its soundscapes, Lost River keeps revealing new forms. Rabbia’s drumming is freely creative and propulsive, and enhanced through his use of electronics. Aarset’s flowing playing will delight listeners who have enjoyed his Dream Logic project and his contribution to recordings with Nils Petter Molvӕr, Tigran Hamasyan, Andy Sheppard and others. Petrella’s role as a principal instrumental voice will surprise those who know him only as a great “jazz” soloist with Enrico Rava and Giovanni Guidi; his broad range is very well deployed in Manfred Eicher’s widescreen production in this recording, made in Udine in January 2018.

Dark Star Safari

DARK STAR SAFARI is a newly formed group feat. Jan Bang, Erik Honoré, Eivind Aarset and Samuel Rohrer.

Dark Star Safari present its eponymous recording debut, an evocative song-driven album. These songs conjure shadows of memory, clouds of dreaming and silhouettes of foreboding through the album’s layered, many-textured fabrics and Jan Bang's silken delivery of Erik Honoré's acute lyrics.

New album out

The Height Of The Reeds" started as a commissioned work to the city of Hull, Great Britain´s cultural capital 2017. Music composed by Arve Henriksen, Jan Bang, Eivind Aarset, and field recordist Jez riley French, the work celebrates the longstanding seafaring relationship between Hull and Scandinavia. It was originally the musical companion to a sound walk that took place in April, May and June 2017. Those who took part could listen to the music on headphones while crossing the Humber Bridge. Initially intended for April only, the arrangement proved so popular it ended up with selling out three months, a total of 15.000 tickets.

Two new releases: Séan Mac Erlaine "Music For Empty Ears" and J.Peter Schwalm "How We Fall"

I am happy to be involved in these two new releases:

Clarinetist and composer Séan Mac Erlaine invited Jan Bang and myself to partricipate on his new album "Music For Empty Ears". Two intense days in Amper Tone studio in Oslo, and postproduction in Irland by Séan resulted in this album which I think has a strong identity of it´s own. Itis out now, and is released on Ergodos

My old friend and long time collaborator J.Peter Schwalm is releasing his new album "How We Fall" on Rare Noise Rec the 8th of june 2018, with contributions by Tim Harries and myself. The music is dark and rich, with lots of textural details.
